San Diego, California has been a hot spot for football talent, and in 2012 it happens to be the home of tight end Taylor McNamara, who will undoubtedly be one of the best tight end prospects in the country. McNamara, as a junior, is already 6-foot-5, and 235-pounds. He’s a versatile prospect that can block and has great hands in the passing game.
Since he has so many tools to work with, how he’s used in an offense in college will be one of the main factors in his recruitment.
I’m kind of going off of how the coaches say I’ll be used in the offense. That’s one of the reasons that Arizona is really appealing. I just want to go somewhere where I can be the best player I can possibly be.
Taylor will get the chance to pick and choose what school and what offense best suits him. He has already racked up offers from all over the country, including Arizona, Cincinnati, Florida State, Maryland, and Ohio State.
A couple offers I might try to pick up at some camps this summer are Washington and Oregon, just because of the facilities up there and the coaches seem nice. I’m going to send out some film to try to pick up as many as I can.
Outside of the offers that he currently holds, Taylor is hearing from Cal, Florida, USC, Kentucky, Auburn, Alabama, LSU. Even though the process is still in its early stages, McNamara has an early top three.
Ohio State, Arizona, and Florida State are probably my top three right now.
This list will most likely change as the process goes on, and Taylor picks up new offers. Being from California and having national offers means that the prospect has to be ok with distance from home, and that won’t be a factor in Taylor’s decision. He’s just looking for a place to call his new home.
