California Receiver picks the Beavers

On the eve of their biggest rivalry game, The Civil War, the Oregon State coaching staff received some good news. Coronal, CA Receiver Larry Scott officially committed to the Beavers. Scott, a 6″1, 175-pound prospect, also had offers from New Mexico State, Montana State, and Utah State. He is ranked a two-star prospect by both scout and rivals.com.

2012 DE Winston is one to watch

Evan Winston is a 6“3, 245-pound defensive end prospect from Muskegon, Michigan. Winston recently finished his junior season in which his team fin­ished 6–5, falling in second round of the MHSAA state playoffs. Winston had a strong year on the defensive front, racking up an impressive 94 tackles and 8 sacks, though he felt he could’ve done a little better.

NCAA Rules Cam Newton Eligible

The ongoing investigation with the Cam and Cecil Newton case took a somewhat unexpected turn today. The NCAA has ruled Cam Newton is eligible to play immediately, according to multiple reports. The odd part is that the NCAA acknowledged that Newton’s father, Cecil, was involved with illegal activity.

“Based on the information available to the reinstatement staff at this time, we do not have sufficient evidence that Cam Newton or anyone from Auburn was aware of this activity, which led to his reinstatement,” Kevin Lennon, NCAA vice president for academic and membership affairs, said in a news release.” Read the rest of this entry →
