Georgia has now moved into the seventh overall spot for recruiting class rankings according to Rivals.com. That jump is due in part to the commitment of five star DE Ray Drew (Thomas County/Georgia) this afternoon, and adding to what Bulldog fans are calling “The Dream Team.”
The number one ranked weakside defensive end overall had been teasing fans from every school with his “shock the world” comments. There was so much buzz surrounding his announcement that “Ray Drew” was a trending topic on Twitter in the United States. Talk about good self promotion and marketing. Read the rest of this entry →

Many recruiting analysts believe a dream season, whether it is a BCS victory, a conference championship, or even national title, does not fully effect a recruiting class until the following year. Despite their troubles on the field, Ole Miss has done a tremendous job with recruiting for the 2011 class. California DB Stefan McClure (5’11″, 170 lbs) has now taken all five of his official visits, with Michigan being the most recent. McClure decided that he had seen enough and was ready to make his decision. In a text, he said that he will announce on Thursday the 27th at 8AM at Vista High School.
The finalists for his services are UCLA, Cal, Oregon State, and Boise State. There’s a general consensus that Stefan is most likely down to UCLA and Cal, as I expect distance from home to be a factor which is most likely why Michigan was cut from the equation.

Michigan seemingly needed a boost after firing head coach Rich Rodriguez in early January. Fans were restless with the process of hiring a new coach, and recruits were feeling the same. The timing of the coaching change most likely cost them a few commitments, mainly LB Kris Frost (Matthews/North Carolina) who in the end made his commitment to Auburn.
Michigan’s new head man Brady Hoke finally started to fill out his coaching staff, and hit a home run when Baltimore Ravens’ defensive coordinator, and former Michigan assistant, Greg Mattison decided to join Hoke’s staff. The new coaches held their first recruiting visitor weekend the past few days and hit the ground running. Read the rest of this entry →

Though the 2011 recruiting class has yet to be inked and signed, coaches are always on the lookout for new talent down the line. Whether that means the 2012, 2013, or even 2014 class, players are developing at faster rates and coaches are constantly searching for future stars as well.
